San Diego Kids Weekend Events: July 2-4 – Red Tricycle

The weekend’s here and that means lots of reasons to celebrate. July kicks off the wild, infectious summertime spirit around San Diego and there’s no shortage of things to do. From Fourth of July Fireworks to Home Grown Fun at the San Diego Fairgrounds, San Diego families have plenty of reasons to get out and make the most of the summer sun. The Big Bay Boom 

The Big Bay Boom bash is back with amazing fireworks over the San Diego Bay. What’s unique about this extravaganza is the fireworks are lit from several coastal locations, including Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero North and Coronado Ferry Landing. The show is always popular, so consider carpooling or take the San Diego Trolley. Sun. Event details.

A Family Fun Fourth of July Celebration 

Join the reverie of A Family Fun 4th of July Celebration at the USS Midway Museum! Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and small coolers with picnic-type snacks and experience a stunning view of the Big Bay Boom fireworks show from the flight deck of the USS Midway. This annual celebration includes the best view of downtown San Diego fireworks, live entertainment and music, family fun activities and savory All-American concessions with adult and kid-friendly beverages for sale. Bring your lightweight lawn chair and set up on the flight deck for the best view of the fireworks our city has to offer. Kid’s Fishing Clinic

Dana Wharf Sportfishing invites children 5 to 12 years of age dockside for an educational fishing clinic. Kids will learn hands-on-fishing techniques from their expert anglers. After each Sunday clinic concludes, Dana Wharf will be running a fishing trip from 12:45 to 5:15; adults are $59 and kids ages 5-12 will fish for free when they are enrolled in the Kids Fishing Clinic. First Friday Kids Craft & Music

The San Diego Craft Collective hosts little artists of all ages for a free craft and music session on Fridays. The event is hosted outdoors and physically-distanced. Fri. Event details. 

Once on This Island

San Diego County Fair Fourth of July

What’s more HOME•GROWN•FUN that the 4th of July? Let’s celebrate the birth of our nation by wearing stars & stripes,eating apple funnel cake, and cheering on our Fireworks Finale! Fireworks Viewing Tips: This year’s show is specially designed for our HOME•GROWN•FUN on-site audience. Best viewing will be in the West Avenue and West Gate area; Grandstand seating will NOT be available. The Fireworks show is at 9 p.m. Sun. Event details.
