Tuesday was a summer vacation and brought similar benefits to San Diego’s local economy.

San Diego said goodbye to the pandemic limits and was looking forward to enjoying the night without it. Even restaurant and bar owners weren’t ready to keep up with the wave of enthusiastic customers.

In reality, the industry is still losing a significant portion of its workforce. You can chalk it to unemployment bonuses, fear of COVID-19 or family care issues. After all, it doesn’t change anything for those who work or for customers who expect a certain level of service.

Alex Broadbent, Puesto’s manager at Seaport Village, said:

If you want to know how desperate a local restaurant is to fill a position from manager to server or host, look at the ads you need on sites like Craigslist and Indeed.com.

Puest offers incentives that even college graduates and skilled workers may find difficult to obtain.

“I think it reflects the urgency we want to adopt,” Broadbent said.

Wages range from $ 220 to $ 280 per shift, with full timer medical, dental and visual benefits and a 30% employee discount. The kitchen staff also has a $ 400 contract.

Business owners are delighted now that California has lifted the COVID-19 restriction and has greater capacity in the workplace. Lauren Coronado of NBC 7 talks with the North Park business owner about how it affects his eateries.

Laura Gonzalez is a daytime laboratory technician, but three weeks ago she got a part-time assistant server job at Puesto.
