Minors: Padres affiliates swept in Fourth of July games – The San Diego Union-Tribune

Patrick Kivlehan hit his 16th homer and Tucupita Marcano homered among his three hits, but Triple-A El Paso was still overpowered, 12-7, at Albuquerque on Sunday.

Kivlehan (.961 OPS) drove in two runs on his 16th homer, tops in the Padres system.

Marcano (.895 OPS) hit his fifth homer, doubled and scored two runs, while Ivan Castillo (.622 OPS) and Gosuke Katoh (.803 OPS) both had two hits.

Right-hander Caleb Boushley (2-1, 6.75 ERA) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk in four innings in the loss before the bullpen allowed seven runs over the final four innings.

El Paso lost for the third time in four games to start its series with Albuquerque, falling to 23-28 on the season.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (26-28)

  • Corpus Christi 10, Missions 8: CF Jose Azocar (.729 OPS) hit his fourth homer and drove in two runs in a two-hit game and RF Jack Suwinski (.950 OPS) and C Chandler Seagle (.644 OPS) both drove in two runs on two hits. 1B Yorman Rodriguez (.686 OPS), SS Eguy Rosario (.790 OPS) and 2B Olivier Basabe (.548 OPS) all collected two hits. RHP Mason Fox (11.69 ERA) allowed five runs on six hits in two-thirds of an inning in the start. RHP Henry Henry (2.76 ERA) turned in 3 1/3 shutout innings in relief. Before the game, the Padres announced SS CJ Abrams sustained season-ending injuries in last week’s collision at second base with Rosario.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (23-30)

  • Great Lakes 7, TinCaps 5: RHP Gabe Mosser (4.44 ERA) struck out seven, but allowed two runs on three hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings in the start. RHP Felix Minjarez (3-3, 6.30 ERA) gave up the lead and earned the loss with two runs allowed in one-third of an inning. LF Tirso Ornelas (.670 OPS) went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, SS Justin Lopez (.697 OPS) doubled in two runs and C Jonny Homza (.911 OPS) went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (26-28)

  • Inland Empire 7, Storm 4: RHP Connor Lehmann (0-1, 6.97 ERA) allowed five runs – four earned – on seven hits and three walks in three innings in the loss in his first start of the season. 2B Jordy Barley (.754 OPS) hit his eighth homer and DH Robert Hassell III (.837 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, a walk and a run scored. SS Euribiel Angeles (.813 OPS) and RF Matthew Acosta (.816 OPS) both doubled among their two hits each.
