Minors: Matt Waldron rolling with TinCaps – The San Diego Union-Tribune

Matt Waldron is beginning to settle in with his new organization.

The 24-year-old right-hander struck out five over five solid innings in high Single-A Fort Wayne’s 4-3 win over visiting Cedar Rapids on Friday, extending his run to 23 strikeouts over his last 21 frames.

Waldron (2.93 ERA) has two walks over that stretch but had none while scattering two runs and six hits in his sixth start since arriving in November as the player to be named later in last August’s Mike Clevinger trade.

Waldron was an 18th-round pick out of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2019.

He went 4-0 with a 2.96 ERA, 57 strikeouts and an 0.79 WHIP in 45 2/3 innings split rookie ball and the short-season New York-Penn League the summer after the draft in 2019.

Waldron has allowed one run in each of his last four starts.
