Fantasy Football 2021: Carolina Panthers Preview – The San Diego Union-Tribune

Knowledge is power and the greatest asset you can acquire in order to compete for a fantasy football championship.

Here’s your 2021 preview of the Carolina Panthers, the 14th of 32 team profiles during draft season:

2021 Fantasy MVP: Christian McCaffrey, RB

Obviously, McCaffrey (ADP: 1) was a disappointment last season, but injuries are a part of the NFL and there’s no indication this is something we should come to expect from the all-around dynamo. His production in the three games he played in 2020 extrapolated across a full season: 1,995 total yards, 32 total touchdowns and 91 receptions. Don’t over think this.

2021 Fantasy Rookie to watch: Terrace Marshall Jr., WR

Matt Rhule’s offense supported three productive wide receivers for fantasy purposes in 2020, but that was without McCaffrey for most of the season. Target Marshall (ADP: 185) in dynasty leagues and stash him just incase he gets an opportunity to flash his immense talent this season.

2021 Fantasy Sleeper: Panthers D/ST

This unit is going undrafted in most leagues with an ADP of 326 , but it’s young, talented and features playmakers at every level. Brian Burns, Haason Reddick, Derrick Brown, Jeremy Chinn and Jaycee Horn are all reason to take a flier after everybody reaches a couple rounds early for other more popular defenses.

2021 Fantasy Bust: D.J. Moore, WR

There are a few things that concern me about Moore (ADP: 55) despite my affinity for his talent. First, McCaffrey is the dominant force in this offense. Second, Robby Anderson already has an established chemistry with Sam Darnold. Third, Marshall and tight end Dan Arnold will allow Darnold to spread the wealth when he’s not hyper-focused on McCaffrey. Plus, Moore is big-play dependent and only has 10 touchdowns in 46 career games.
