Both runners have enjoyed success this season for the Mean Green, and both have excelled throughout their careers in the classroom, earning two of the six spots on the conference team.
Beaumont opened the season at the UTA Season Opener by placing third in the men’s 5k with a time of 14:56.3, seventh in the Texas A&M Invitational (24:02.8 in 8k race) and 29th at the Arturo Barrios Invite back in Bryan-College Station with a time of 24:11.4 in the 8k. Beaumont graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Finance and a 3.74 GPA. It is his second time to receive the conference honor.
Bouchard finished second at the UTA Season Opener, seven seconds ahead of Beaumont, then took second at the Texas A&M Invitational with an 8k time of 23:47.5 and earned Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for his performance that week. He returned to Bryan-College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invite and led the team by finishing 21st in 24:07.2. Bouchard is a Biomedical Engineering major with a 4.0 GPA. It marks his third appearance on the All-Academic Team.
“I’m excited to for Caleb and Jack’s recognition of being recognized as members of the C-USA All-Academic Team,” head coach Matt Layten said. “I think it’s a testament to our entire team’s objective of seeking to not just be student-athletes, but rather scholar-athletes.”
